Unit 2 exam style question
Visualisation diagrams are a visual representation of the layout of a page in a magazine page or a website, they usually show where different parts of information and content will be positioned and also contains annotations to specify the purpose and also details such as font type, size, colour scheme and more.
Moreover, it also is a visual representation for both the client and the designers can work very closely with each other, this means that it is easier for Cery to get a design that will be satisfactory to be myholidayplanner.com, this is good as working closely with a client will give designers more of an idea of the kinds of colours and fonts that are needed, which will save time taken doing trial and error and will relieve stress from Cery.
However, it does take training to be able to produce a visualisation diagram, therefor if a client has set a short-term deadline, having to train employees to design visualisation diagrams will not only give Cery less time for production but also it will be costly. It is essential that people are properly trained however as if they designed a website for myholidayplanner.com which wasn’t properly annotated, not only will the client not fully understand what the diagram shows but the actual production team will be left to interpret the diagram so they may not produce what was intentionally designed.
Moreover, it does go into a lot of detail about the details to the design whereas documents like navigation pathways doesn’t, this is good as it makes it easy to design aspects which are the specific needs for the client, for example it can take into consideration and design features for people with different disabilities like people who are blind or colour blind, or moving away from disabilities, it could also have a feature for people who speak different languages.
However, it doesn’t show the navigation of the website, this is a big factor as most websites aren’t just one page so Cery will need to produce an additional document to show the navigational pathways of the website so that it is clear on how it is intended to be used.
Finally, visualisation diagrams show none of the information about how the website will be produced, for example it doesn’t mention the equipment that maty be needed to produce the website or any timescales or what their client requirements are, so this isn’t effective as there is no form of schedule that the business will need to follow and will cause them to be disorganised. So, they would need to also produce additional documents like an equipment checklist and production schedule in order to be organised.
In conclusion, I would highly recommend they use a visualisation diagram as it very specific to making a website and it is highly detailed, which is good for planning as the less vague documents are then the less that is required to be.
