Medium Stake Assessments - Unit 2

 1a

needs to represent their brand ethos

needs to be simple

title sequence should feature content from the show

1b

Andrew is the visual effects artist and main video editor so he will play a vital role in the making of the title sequence so he will be the one who has to get all of the required footage and then edit into a title sequence for the show and once done add all of the video effects such as the name of the show, any presenters etc.

You could go and do some content analysis of existing shows by looking at trending TV cooking shows and analysing their title sequences to see what makes them effective and what they include then they can translate that into their own work so for example if they watch a show like The Great British Bake Off, they can look at what types of colours are used in this case it is bright summery colours so then they know to use those sorts of colours for their title sequence.

Another way is by doing a trial so they can generate one from concept ideas as a starting point then do a screen testing to see what people think, this is good as you will be receiving live audience feedback so the answers will be relevant and also the audience will have a higher opportunity to express their views than if they had to just tick boxes with a scale to rate it, as with opinions you can discover what is effective and what isn't.

3a

If any shows cross promote their brand identity such as if any cooking shows had merchandise such as aprons or if they had any cook books there is a high possibility that their brand identity will be displayed on their to promote themselves so if you could get access to these resources then you would be able to analyse them to see what works, this would be suitable as a lot of cooking shows release cook books in order to engage with the audience and also by getting this you can also use it to look at how they make cook books in case of the instance where Treat TV wish to release cook books.

Moreover as this is a TV channel, it would make sense to watch a channel such as Food Network as not only will you be able to see what logos the channel has, but you will also be able to be able to see the logos of the various shows that premier on that channel, this is highly effective as you will be able to generate a larger portfolio of research as you will have more references to look at.

3b

one disadvantage is that there isn't a huge guarantee that many shows will produce merchandise so you will not be able to get a lot of references and if the shows are quite different to the ones Treat TV hope to produce then that research isn't going to be very relevant.

4

They can generate a mood board, this is good because of the fact that you can generate so many ideas at once so then you can see what you like and what is effective. Moreover mood boards are a quick and easy way to generate ideas collaboratively as it is easy for people to add new ideas to the mood board to fill it up with ideas, this is effective as it is a team working on it to generate ideas meaning anyone can pitch in at any time to offer ideas

On the other hand you could use a storyboard as this is visually showing the key frames and then expanding on them to show exactly what is going on within the sequence itself, this is good as it goes in depth as to what needs to be done in terms of the intro sequence looking at camera angles, editing and sound, making this a very effective method of planning.

overall i would recommend the story board over the mood board as it is a lot more detailed and more relevant to the fact that they are having to plan a title sequence which is audio visuals whereas a mood board is a collection of basic ideas and is a good staring point but is very general and not specific to this case.
