KTA5 - LO4 - What pre-production documents are used for
- Proposal/treatments/projects outlines are used to give a basic idea on what you are wanting to create, what is going to involved and who are you targeting with your product. It also gives a team more of an idea on how you are going to create this product. It asks us the purpose and equipment.
- Production schedule is used to show what jobs need to be done and when. Production schedules are also used to show who is doing what job as well. Dates, workflow, activities and tasks, equipment and personnel and deadlines.
- SWOT analysis is used to show the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats within the product you are making. This gives you chance to see how you could overcome these problems however there can be other things that happen after you had made a SWOT analysis. Shows the client the benefits, any problems, how far can the product go and competitors.
- Asset log tells us where we are getting the assets from it also has the reference where the music or other assets came from.
- A call sheet is used to show who needs to be at a certain location, what time they need to be there and what equipment should be there. Contact information.
- Risk assessments are used to highlight any risks that could happen and how they can be prevented e.g. wires being left on the ground which could cause someone tripping. Recces check for any pug sockets and the level of risks ranging from low, medium and high. Need to minimize risks.
- Storyboards are used to show each scene or part of a game in detail. It is mainly used in film, TV, music videos and games. It tells you what camera work will be used, the mise-en-scene in that scene and which member of the cast needs to be in that scene. Orders of an audio-visual product, the shot types, the camera movements how long is the camera work for, key sounds, any editing from shot to shot, which content is involved.
- Scripts are used by actors and voice artists when making a audio-visual products. They are used to highlight who is saying what and how they are saying, it also gives directions on the way a character walks or acts.
- Shooting script is used to show the order of types of shots when the actors are talking. It's more in depth.
- Concept art is used to show what a character or logo design. Avatars are used as concept art. Used for animations or games.
- Visualisation diagram is a draft of a poster or advertisement. It can also be for front covers. On a visualisation diagram we identify images, logos, house theme and fonts. They don't just identify things they also justify why they have chosen that against the brief.
- Flat plan and wireframes are used for websites. They have image boxes with a cross in and text box templates. They tell use what images, colour scheme, house style and navigation. Needs to have a justification against the brief.
- Prototype a very basic versions of a product to show how it works. Early working version. They are generally for products that are more interactive.
- Page mock-up these are specific to magazine and newspapers. Used for things with a lot of images and text. Where the images go, masthead etc.
- Set design is a design of a set. What mise-en-scene is going to be in it and where the cameras are. Film, Tv, videogames, documentaries, news programs and animation.
- Form (i.e consent, release) is a permission form to say you are allowed to fim. photographed etc.
- Site structure diagram is a hierarchy for an app or website. That show all the navigation and links on the sub pages and homes pages. ck-up these are specific to magazine and newspapers. Used for things with a lot of images and text. Where the images go, where the text go. masthead etc.
